Programs and Activities for Children

The Franklin-Springboro Public Library provides free activities that will entertain and educate kids of all ages. Details on all upcoming activities are given below. We hope to see you at the library!

 

Take-Home Crafts

Tuesday, January 28, take-home craft kits will be available at both library branches while supplies last. Each kit has the supplies needed to complete three winter themed projects. Because of the paint and small parts included, these kits are recommended for children ages 5-12. 

Registration is not required. Kits cannot be reserved and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

 

Craft Studio for Kids: Be My Valentine

Join us at the library for some hands-on, creative fun. We'll provide supplies for you to make a Valentine-themed craft, cards, and even a cookie! Caregivers must remain with their children throughout the program.

  • Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Franklin Branch
  • Registration: Not required. This is a drop-in event. Please arrive anytime between 2 and 3 p.m., as you will need at least 30 minutes to complete all of the activities.
  • Age range: 5-12 (Younger and older siblings are invited to participate as well.)

 

Book Pop Book Club

Book Pop is a book club for readers in fourth through sixth grade. We read a new book each month and then meet to discuss the book, do book-related activities, and have snacks!

  • Location: Springboro Branch
  • Registration: Required. Call the library at (937) 748-3200 to sign up.

For our February Book Pop meeting, we are reading Stuntboy, In the Meantime by Jason Reynolds. The book will be available for pick-up from the Springboro Branch starting January 6. If you'd prefer to pick the book up from the Franklin Branch, let us know when you register and we'll have a copy sent to Franklin for you.

 

Book Splash Book Club

Join the book club for readers in kindergarten and first grade. We will read a story together at the meeting and then do story-related activities. Caregivers must remain with children throughout the program.

Our February Book Splash meeting will feature the book There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow by Lucille Colandro. We'll have a snowman treasure hunt and make a snowman craft.

Calling all homeschoolers ages 5-12! Join us for educational and fun projects and activities. Each month's meeting will feature something new. Caregivers must remain with their children throughout the program. Please note that siblings outside of the age range for the program are welcome at homeschool meetings and will be able to participate if sufficient supplies are available.

Our February homeschool meeting will be all about slime. We will learn about this non-Newtonian substance, make some slime to take home, and decorate our slime containers.

 

Book Buzz Book Club

Join the book club for readers in second and third grade. Get the chosen book from the library, read it at home, and come to the meeting for fun book-related activities. Copies of the book will be available at the Springboro Branch at least two weeks before the meeting. (If you'd prefer to pick the book up from the Franklin Branch, let us know and we'll have a copy sent to Franklin for you.)

For the February Book Buzz meeting, we are reading Cam Jansen: The Mystery of the Dinosaur Bones by David A. Adler. It will be available for checkout at the Springboro Branch starting Feb. 3.

Caregivers must remain with their children throughout the program. Please note that siblings outside of the age range for the program are welcome at homeschool meetings and will be able to participate if sufficient supplies are available.
