Programs

The Franklin-Springboro Public Library offers in-person and take-home programs to engage young readers. Details on upcoming programs can be found below.

Festive Stories and Snacks

  • Dates: Monday - Thursday, Dec. 12-15
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 10 - 10:30 a.m.
  • Ages: All ages. (Activities will best be enjoyed by children age 5 and younger, but all ages are invited to participate.)
  • Registration: Not required.
  • Description: This half-hour program will feature one winter or holiday-themed story, small snacks related to the story, and coloring pages. Different stories and snacks will be featured each day. We welcome families to join us all four days! (To discuss the snacks in regards to your child's food allergies, please contact Ally Copper at (937) 746-2665 or copperal@fspl.org.)

 

Winter Take-Home Activity

  • Date: Monday, December 19
  • Location: Both Library Branches (Franklin and Springboro)
  • Time: Beginning at 9 a.m.
  • Ages: 3-12
  • Registration: Not required.
  • Description: Stop by the either library branch on Monday, December 19, to pick up a take-home activity with a winter theme. Activities will be available while supplies last.

Homeschool Project Zone

  • Dates: Tuesdays, January 17, February 21, March 21, and April 18
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Ages: 5-12
  • Registration: Registration is required. Call the Franklin Library at (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Description: Each month will feature a new engaging activity for homeschoolers to complete. Caregivers should stay with their children throughout the program. Homeschool Project Zone is designed for children ages 5-12. Younger siblings may attend, but we can't guarantee we'll have enough supplies for them to participate in the main activity. 
    • January -- Gorman Heritage Farms will visit with a live chicken for the children to meet and learn about. This will include an egg dissection activity. 
    • February -- Activity to be determined.
    • March -- Activity to be determined.
    • April -- Activity to be determined.

 

Make Your Own Games

  • Date: Saturday, January 21
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 2 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Ages: 6-12
  • Registration: Registration is required. Call the Franklin Library at (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Description: Attendees will have the opportunity to make their own puzzle, portable tic-tac-toe, and memory game to take home with them. 

 

Poetry & Art

  • Date: Friday, January 27
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 4 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Ages: 3-12
  • Registration: Registration is not required.
  • Description: Stop by the library to read some fun children's poems and draw, paint, or collage a picture based on your favorites. This is a drop-in program so attendees can arrive when it's convenient for them. All art supplies will be provided. Come and get creative with us at the library!

 

Be My Valentine

  • Date: Saturday, February 11
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 2 - 4 p.m.
  • Ages: 3-12
  • Registration: Registration is not required.
  • Description: Stop by the library to make some heart-felt crafts, design a Valentine card, and decorate a cookie. This is a drop-in program so attendees can arrive when it's convenient for them. All art supplies will be provided. Come and have a sweet time with us at the library!

 

Book POP! Book Club (Learn more here.)

  • Dates: Tuesdays, February 14, March, 14, and April 11
  • Location: Springboro City Building Community Room, 320 W. Central Ave. in Springboro (Right next to the library.)
  • Time: 5 - 6:30 p.m.
  • Ages: 9-12
  • Registration: Registration is required. Call the Franklin Library at (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Description: Join us for the best book club in town! Each month will feature a new book. Participants read the book prior to the meeting and then attend the meeting for a book discussion, activities, and snacks! The books will be available for pick-up at the Springboro Library. If you'd prefer to pick up the book at the Franklin Library, let us know when you register, and we'll send a copy to the Franklin Branch for you.

Balloon Workshop

  • Date: Thursday, March 9
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 5 - 6 p.m.
  • Ages: 7-12
  • Registration: Registration is required. Call the Franklin Library at (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Description: Children's entertainer Erica Carlson is ready to train the next generation of balloon twisters! Erica will teach participants how to make basic twists and coach them through sculpting balloon creations of their own.

 

Spring Break Fun

  • Date: Tuesday, April 4
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Ages: 3-12
  • Registration: Registration is not required.
  • Description: Need something fun to do while on a break from school? Stop by the library for crafts and activities that celebrate spring. This is a drop-in program so attendees can arrive when it's convenient for them.

 

Camp Read-A-Lot

  • Date: Friday, April 28
  • Location: Franklin Library
  • Time: 6:30 - 8 p.m.
  • Ages: 4-8
  • Registration: Registration is required. Call the Franklin Library at (937) 746-2665 to sign up.
  • Description: Leave your tents and kayaks at home, but join us as we hike through the library completing special activities to promote reading. Our camp-themed evening is designed for children and their grown-ups to participate together. Have s'more fun with us as we hone those literacy skills and become happy campers!
