Change Your Words, Change Your Life

This is an introductory presentation in Compassionate Communication, also known as Nonviolent Communication, developed by mediator and clinical psychologist, Marshall B. Rosenberg, PhD.  Learn to speak up when it's scary, break the cycle of destructive self-talk, get along with others in more satisfying ways, let go of judgments about ourselves and others, and resolve conflicts that do occur peacefully--and happily.

And, you will learn one way to start using it now.

Presenter Diane Diller, Compassionate Communication Trainer, has been learning and practicing it since 2004 and teaching since 2009.

This program is free and open to adults and teens ages 15 and up.

Registration is appreciated, but not required.  Seating on a first come basis.

Dr. Rosenberg's book will be available for purchase
at the discounted price of $15.

World War I and the Creation of the Middle East

Dr. Vaughn Shannon will discuss the causes, conduct and consequences of World War I - how the war reshaped the Middle East to what it looks like today, both in terms of geography and, more importantly, in terms of lingering conflicts in the region.  He will examine how the "war to end all wars," according to historian David Fromkin, created "A Peace to End All Peace."

Dr. Vaughn Shannon is Associate Professor of Political Science at Wright State University.  He received his PhD at Ohio State University.  His research and teaching focus is on Middle East politics, international security, and political psychology.  He has published on the Arab-Israeli Conflict as well as US relations with Iran and Iraq.

Program is free.

David Fromkin's book, "A Peace to End All Peace" is available at the Franklin-Springboro Library.
